Ini pakcik Halim. I remember that I first saw him was in KL many many years ago. While I’m still studying. I think that incident was at Central Market and he was having one of his ‘street lecture’. To me, he was quite an accentric man. Not crazy, just accentric.

One of the things that he said and I remembered till this day was: Jauh perjalanan luas pandangan. That he got the mathematical formulas was when he was traveling.

For those that don’t know him, this uncle is always on the go giving his street lectures on maths. His math is quite unique and different from the ones taught at school. he simplified math formulas so that it is easier to use.

I snapped that picture a few days ago when I was at one of the Pasar Malam at my village. I was pleasantly surprised to see him there. I thought that he only works KL areas.

He dressed like an Arqam fraternity or the Tabligh Order. Don’t know whether he belongs to either. That’s not important.

What I want to know is what turned him into the man he is now? Going from places to places and giving street lectures, whereas he already have a career as a teacher before he started this. It was not mentioned in his small booklet of his that he sold for RM5. Apart from introductionsabout him, it also has formulas that he already perfected. But I’m not good at maths and I found it hard to understand the formulas without him giving the intro.

There are three kinds of people, those who can count and those who can’t.

Wherever you are uncle, I hope that you’re well.
